I’m always on the hunt for a great bargain. I love the cheap thrill of picking up some intriguing product at the drug store and bringing it home for a test run. Sometimes those fun bargains become go-to products that I reach for over and over again. My makeup life wouldn’t be the same without them.
If you haven’t tried one of Wet n Wild’s eye shadow palettes I highly recommend it. I’ve collected several of them from limited editions and the regular line and even some of the throwback palettes that I scouted out in bargain stores. In case you didn’t know, Black Radiance is made by the same company and they offer some of the famous 8 pan palettes in that line. The Black Radiance Urban Jungle palette has to be one of my favorites for its earthy mix of brown, green and gold.
This warm mauve-brown blush is just the perfect flush of subtle color. The cream formula glides over the skin and blends beautifully.
Konad Nail Stamping Set ($16)
I’m all about anything artsy craftsy, and this nail stamping kit is a go-to for my summer pedicures. You can dress up your digits with patterns and flowers in pretty much any color you like. You just need a thick, opaque polish or a chrome polish that works with the system.
YouTube guru Marlena has stepped up with a product line that gives MAC a run for its money with very affordable pricing. This glittery pigment is a rich mix of deep browns and antique gold that’s perfect when you want to go for an exotic look.
Some facial sprays make you shiny like a disco ball. This light, fresh spray will leave you hydrated and prep your skin for makeup. It’s also great to have on the go for those moments when your skin needs a pick up. The smell is divine.
This handy little brush is quite a multi-tasker for targeted makeup application. Use it to contour, highlight, set your under-eye with powder, blend out face products, apply cream blush without disturbing your foundation and more!
Ben Nye Banana Powder ($12)
It used to be you could get a tub of this stuff for seven or eight bucks, but since Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist made it popular as his secret to the famous Kim K highlight the price has just blown up. Ben Nye is a brand geared toward theatrical makeup so it can be really tough to get it on the ground. Still, it’s super-finely milled and a great product to set your under-eye concealer and enhance your highlight on the top of the cheekbones. It could take a lifetime to go through the whole tub.
I use this stuff everywhere – face, nails, hair. Slather it on for a hydrating mask or moisturize your dry ends. Mix it into a hot oil treatment or use a tablespoon with your hair mask. Work it into your nails every day and watch them grow stronger and longer. This particular brand is rich and unrefined. You can use it generously and a bottle will still last several months.
This pretty polish is a beach getaway in a bottle. It’s that shimmering aquamarine water from some island in paradise. If you’re landlocked this summer, you can still paint your toes and dream.
Gorgeous highlighters like this that give you a lit-from-within glow usually come with a hefty price tag. The texture is creamy with lovely pigmentation in a peachy-gold color.
