When I got into nail stamping, I became suddenly obsessed with nail polish. My once very basic collection mushroomed into a colorful basket. Here are ten favorites that I reach for over and over again. All swatches are done with two coats except for the two chunky glitter polishes, which are one coat.
Essie Set in Stones ($9)
This is my favorite way to add some zing to any nail design. I reach for this chunky silver glitter over and over and just dab it strategically around each nail for a gorgeous sparkle.
Milani A Rose Mylady ($5)
This find was the result of a Holy Grail Quest for the perfect nude-pink polish. It’s the kind of lovely, subtle color that works with anything you’re wearing.
When it comes to pedicure colors, it just doesn’t get much better than this. It’s begging to peek out from a pair of sandals. And TWO dollars? Are you kidding me?!
ULTA Strapless ($8)
This lovely, sophisticated taupe color has just a hint of shimmer to make it an intriguing neutral.
Essie Beyond Cozy ($9)
When I saw this polish in the Duane Reade in Times Square I just had to have it. It’s a finely milled, fully opaque, glittery/metallic polish that hovers between pewter and antique gold. It would be a perfect way to jazz up an LBD.
I first found this brand in Whole Foods, but you can now get it at ULTA. This is a fabulous chrome polish with a cool, metallic finish.
Essie Tart Deco ($9)
This has to be one of the brand’s most popular shades. I’ve seen it referenced at least twice in movies and television. It is the quintessential summer polish for your fingers or your toes. This peachy-coral color is just the thing for summer dresses, pool parties and trips to the beach.
If you are looking for an alternative to clear polish that doesn’t bore you to pieces, this is your color. This milky, iridescent peach color goes on sheer but gives your nails the most lovely glow. It’s also a great base color for french manicures.
As the name implies, this champagne color was made for showing off the ring! It’s shimmery but not glittery and gives your nails just a bit of shine.
This line has unfortunately been discontinued, but I just had to include this fun, jazzy glitter polish. It’s a mix of chunky flakes in rust, gold and black that totally transforms the look of any polish. You can still get it on Ebay or Amazon.
