Loverly reached out to me and asked if I’d like to collaborate on their bridal beauty project. I was so flattered that they liked my blog! As I looked through all the gowns on their site I was definitely feeling inspired, and I came up with some looks that I would TOTALLY wear for the big day.
I’m loving the whole Downton Abbey vibe on this dress and the gold embroidered details make it lust-worthy. This bride is elegant but not at all afraid of a little dramatic flair.
A neutral smokey eye would be perfect with this dress and the rose-gold tones in the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette ($52) are flattering on a range of skin tones. For a pouty, glossy lip layer Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Naked Plum ($25) over Jordana Easy Liner in Cabernet. Channel your inner Lady Edith with a long chain, perhaps a body chain that drapes down the back.
This bride is sweet and romantic and – dare I say it? Virginal. Why am I getting Molly Ringwald in 16 Candles? Dreamy layers of chiffon will lift and flutter with every step in this dress.
Keep the chaste and innocent look going with a soft, peachy-pink makeup look and dewy, radiant skin. NARS Orgasm Blush ($30) will give you that flush of first love and NARS Albatross Highlighter ($30) will keep you glowing. Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in Bitch Perfect ($32) is a creamy, awesome shade of pink that’s neutral without being too neutral and the name says this bride has a bit of attitude. This look needs a bit of drama, and the Jacques Vert Rachel Trevor-Morgan Beaded Flower Band ($99 UK) will ensure that the bride is the center of attention.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s Bride
This bride is screaming old Hollywood glamour. Audrey would totally approve.
This look calls for winged liner, perfect brows, a bold lip and a bit of sparkle in the hair a la Audrey. When it comes to bold lips I much prefer burgundy to red. NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Rouge Tribal ($26) is a deep, sultry burgundy. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner ($18) makes precise liquid liner much easier and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz ($21) gives you definition and has a wide range of colors to match your brows. The hairpin is actually one of my own creations. 🙂
Oscar is clearly working the whole White Swan angle, but I’m not mad. I’ve always thought it would be cool to be a ballerina… except for the bloody toes. And the injuries. And the grueling rehearsal hours. I guess I just really like pointe shoes and tutus.
For this look you want to sculpt the face, give a sultry eye and keep the rest neutral. Start with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette ($49) for a gorgeous smokey eye. Move on to Anastasia Contour Kit ($40) to contour and highlight and then pop on some MAC Gingerly Blush ($22) for soft, neutral color. Finish with Gerard Cosmetics Nude Lipstick ($19) for a creamy “your lips but better” look. Pointe shoes might be a bit impractical but these satin platforms from Chinese Laundry ($63) are a worthy alternative.
Floating Down the Aisle
I love the foamy, frothy ruffled train on this Oscar de la Renta gown. The fluttering layers of blue organza take the beautiful lace gown to another level.
This gown calls for understated elegance, but lining the eyes with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Sabbath ($20) will give you a rich, deep blue color that frames and defines the eyes. Keep the focus on the eyes by amping up your lashes with Benefit They’re Real Mascara ($23). Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation ($37) will give you that flawless face and you know it will last all through the big day. Matte lips are very much on trend now, but they will never look dated. Try Buxom Full-On Lip Stick in Brooklyn ($19) for a rich fig color in a smooth, velvety matte finish.
